is bitcoin the future

i doubt that it's the future of currency.

the theory is good, but the real world application hasn't lived up to the vision.

its value is not based on anything but speculation. well, so is fiat currency, but i find it very arbitrary how it's born and grows.

the merits that make bitcoin appealing work against some people who need authority to control and manage their funds.

i don't even know how to cash out from my coinbase account myself.

hard to imagine it becoming the currency for the general public, including the old and vulnerable.
