medical data donation
my medical fantasy: a world where all patients' data is accessible and searchable to researchers, practitioners, and ai.
what do we need for breakthroughs and innovations in the medical field?
data. lots of data.
there are many good things that could come from having plentiful data.
would this ever happen? of course not.
there are just so many reasons why it won't.
(plus, data is not really accurate unless it's fully systemised and automated.)
it would be cool if patients could "donate" their entire medical data, consented and anonymised, from each admission. having vast amounts of medical records could help other practitioners down the track in various ways. it could be really valuable especially when treating not-so-common combinations of ailments. and of course, it would be useful for data mining, pattern recognition, and ai research and training.
